The primary mission of the Somali Federal Darwish Police is to establish and maintain law and order in areas liberated from insurgent control. By deploying to these regions, they aim to:​

• Security Sector Reforms.
• Provide immediate security and stabilize the environment.​
• Facilitate the transition from military to civilian policing.​
• Support the establishment of the rule of law and governance structures.

This mission is achieved through rigorous training in areas such as counter-terrorism, intelligence gathering, community policing, and human rights awareness .​
